Description:

Tane is a Charon, sworn to hunt and kill rogue vampires.  His new assignment seems like a waste of his talents - until he catches up with the jinn he's been sent to capture. Half human, half demon, Laylah has a vulnerable streak that strikes right through to Tane's cold heart.  He should be furious when she uses her powers to bind them together, preventing him from dragging her before the Commission.  Instead he welcomes any reason to stay close enough to touch, to taste, to seduce...

Laylah doesn't know why she was chosen to protect a child who may be the catalyst in a war between good and evil.  But the mysteries of her past pale compared to the dangers approaching.  Tane is devastatingly strong, breathtakingly sensual.  And Laylah will have to trust in every ounce of that strength, because her enemies are drawing near, eager to destroy them both...

My Review:

Laylah was being followed, finally tired of running she challenges the vampire that was following her to show himself, with that Tane appeared.  Tane was following the half-breed knowing that Laylah was trying to protect something or someone, a child, not her child but a child no less.  Instant attraction happened between Tane and Laylah but Tane was a vampire and Laylah was a half-breed that should not exist, it is forbidden.

Tane did not turn Laylah over to the commission instead they had an adventure.  Lost mother, evil aunt, saving a child, running from the commission, Laylah has her hands full not to mention the gargle, Levet, who always makes me laugh.

I like this story at the end it tended to confuse me a bit.  Nevertheless, it had me hooked from the first page to the last.  I loved Laylah she was not what half-breeds were defined.  She was a fighter and strong willed.  Tane is protective, gorgeous, and seethes sexuality.  Also, I loved revisiting some of the other characters throughout the series.
